
Stephen Hawking, the British theoretical physicist and best-selling author, is under observation in a U.K. hospital where he was taken yesterday after becoming “very ill” with a chest infection.
The professor, 67, who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and has used an electric wheelchair for most of his adult life, is “comfortable,” in a Cambridge hospital, the University of Cambridge said in an e-mailed statement.
